THE ONE

The Overview…

Because everyone counts, Destination Church relentlessly loves and serves like Jesus.

 “Salvation, information, transformation and application.”

1 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” So he told them this parable: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:1-7 (ESV)

Soul Tattoo: My ONE and your ONE is Jesus’ ONE.

“For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.” John 3:16 (TPT)

Statistics show…

  • 78% percent of churchgoers had not shared Jesus with anyone in six months.
  • Almost half of Christian millennials in the U.S. believe it’s wrong to try to convert someone from another faith.
  • Many believers don’t know what the Great Commission is. In a Barna study, 51% of churchgoers said they were unfamiliar with this term.
  • Only 17% of respondents said they knew the term and the Scripture associated with it.

One person

  • The one that led me to Jesus.
  • The one that I led to Jesus.
  • The one that Jesus interacted with.

So they arrived at the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gerasenes. 2 When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil spirit came out from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain. 4 Whenever he was put into chains and shackles—as he often was—he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones. Mark 5:1-5 (NLT)

15He was sitting there fully clothed and perfectly sane…Mark 5:15b (NLT)

18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon possessed begged to go with him. 19 But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” 20 So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them. Mark 5:18-20 (NLT)

No one is exempt.

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)

Everyone can do it.

  • Everyone (one word) should be used when referring to all the people within a group. …
  • Every one (two words) should be used when referring to each individual member of a group.

Every one can do it.

16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” John 4:16-18 (ESV)

39 Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” John 4:39 (ESV)

“19 When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. 20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:19-20 (ESV)

R= Read your Bible every day.

Next Steps…

“The measure of our love for others can be determined by the frequency and earnestness of our prayers for them.” A.W. Pink

19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19 (NIV)

  • Pray about my one.

12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:12-14 (NIV)

  • Pray for my one.

1.) Ask the father to draw them.

44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. John 6:44a (ESV)

2.) Bind the spirit that binds their minds.

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (ESV)

3.) For a Personal Relationship with their Heavenly   Father.

15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15 (NIV)

4.) For believers to cross their paths.

38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:38 (NIV)

5.) Release the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation.

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you… Ephesians 1:17-18a (NIV)

  • Pray for opportunities to talk to and meet with my one. (Relationship)

47 For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ Acts 13:47 (NLT)

“The greatest form of praise is the sound of consecrated feet seeking out the lost and helpless.” Billy Graham

“To be a soul winner is the happiest thing in this world.” Charles Spurgeon

  • Get ready to disciple my one.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)
