Blessed are the Pure In Heart

Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

Exodus 33:20 (ESV) “ But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

A perfect God cannot welcome imperfection.

Matthew 5:20 (NIV) For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 6:45 (ESV) The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Sin infected us, but the life of Christ cleanses us.

Through Jesus blood and sacrifice, we are made morally pure.

Matthew 5:29-30 (ESV) If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

Ruthlessly eliminate the sin that shows itself.

Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV) Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

SOUL TATTOO: Because Jesus makes us morally pure, we strive to be relationally pure.

1st Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Proverbs 4:24 (NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Where is Jesus present in what I see?

1st John 2:15-17 (ESV) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Love the Giver, not the gifts.

Philippians 4:8 (CEV) Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
