You Asked For It
Work Stressors…
Nehemiah 6:1-4 (NKJV) Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates), that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they thought to do me harm. So, I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” But they sent me this message four times, and I answered them in the same manner.
Colossians 3:17 (NKJV) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Soul Tattoo: Don’t allow your stress at work to be greater than your testimony at work.
When my passion to do the job overshadows my Life in Christ there is a problem.
If I belong to Jesus, then that makes the throne of my heart a one-seater.
Understand this, your boss or your coworker is NOT your enemy.
Your workplace is not just a secular thing you and I do to take care of our family and to meet our obligations, but it is a spiritual battlefield.
So often the battles that are most intense and most crucial are won or lost on the fields of our workplace.
How we look at our work:
Nehemiah 6:3a (NKJV) I am doing a great work…
- Nehemiah was confident and his work was worth doing.
- We all have a platform to speak from and to brag on Jesus.
- Nehemiah’s platform was a broken heart.
Psalm 51:17 (NKJV) The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.
Check your vision at work.
We cannot let others’ opinions of us (stress) move us away from the great work Jesus has called us to.
How we look at our Witness:
Nehemiah 6:3b (NKJV) …so that I cannot come down.
- Your testimony is not the gospel, but it is the truth and the proof of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Your greatest work at work is not the money you make but the testimony you have before others at work.
Check your testimony at work.
- If you have messed up at work, own your mess, apologize for it and then move on.
- If you have been wronged at work, forgive, because that is a mandate from Jesus.
Mark 11:25 (NKJV) “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
Check your passion at work.
