What has your faith produced in you?

SOUL TATTOO: What has your faith produced in you?

Faith = Pistis

  • Assent or belief
  • Root word…to persuade
    • A back and forth arguing that produced something.

John 14:6 (NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”

Question #1: Where have you Trusted God over your own thoughts or opinions?

James 1:14-15 (NLT) Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

  • Sin will always lead to death and destruction.

Question #2: Where has your sin brought death or destruction in your life?

1st Corinthians 10:13 (ESV) God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Colossians 3:1-4 (ESV) “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

John 12:24-25 (NIV) Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

  • Something must be put to death, before something new can be born.

Question #3: What have you put to death, to make room for Christ’s life?

Matthew 6:33 (ESV) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

  • Your purpose points to what you do. Your giftings point to how you do it.

Question #4: What gifts or talents do you need to practice giving to God?

2nd Corinthians 4:5-11 (ESV) For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants[a] for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
