Witness His Majesty: Unexpected

Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV) Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

We can:

  • Walk away
  • Worry
  • Wonder

Soul Tattoo: Hope invites us to expect the unexpected.

  1. Look for Him.
    • Psalm 66:5-6 (MSG) “Take a look at God’s wonders— they’ll take your breath away. He converted sea to dry land; travelers crossed the river on foot. Now isn’t that cause for a song?”
    • John 14: 8-11 (TPT) 8Philip spoke up, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be all that we need!” 9Jesus replied, “Philip, I’ve been with you all this time and you still don’t know who I am? How could you ask me to show you the Father, for anyone who has looked at me has seen the Father. 10Don’t you believe that the Father is living in me and that I am living in the Father? Even my words are not my own but come from my Father, for he lives in me and performs his miracles of power through me. 11Believe that I live as one with my Father and that my Father lives as one with me—or at least, believe because of the mighty miracles I have done.
    • John 14: 15-21 (TPT) 15“Loving me empowers you to obey my commands. 16–17And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you will know him intimately, because he will make his home in you and will live inside you. 18“I promise that I will never leave you helpless or abandon you as orphans—I will come back to you! 19Soon I will leave this world and they will see me no longer, but you will see me, because I will live again, and you will come alive too. 20So when that day comes, you will know that I am living in the Father and that you are one with me, for I will be living in you. 21Those who truly love me are those who obey my commands. Whoever passionately loves me will be passionately loved by my Father. And I will passionately love you in return and will manifest my life within you.

  2. Trust His Goodness.
    • 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NASB2020) Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His faithfulness is everlasting.
    • Psalms 145:9 (NKJV) The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.
    • Matthew 7:11 (NKJV) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
    • James 1:17 (NASB) “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”

  3. Embrace Mystery.
    • Colossians 1:26-27 (NASB2020) …“that is, the mystery which had been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been revealed to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
