Let’s Talk About It

TIME

Soul Tattoo:  Live wisely, rest purposefully, and make every moment count for Christ.

“We can expect seventy years, or maybe eighty, if we are healthy, but even our best years bring trouble and sorrow. Suddenly our time is up, and we disappear.” Psalms 90:10 CEV

Screen Time:

  • Social Media: The average person spends over 2 hours a day on social media, which totals up to about 5 years and 4 months over a lifetime.
  • Television: On average, people watch about 4 hours of TV per day. That’s over 13 years of your life spent in front of the screen.
  • Gaming: Gamers spend an average of 8 hours and 40 minutes each week playing video games, adding up to over 2.8 years

BUSY – Being Under Satan’s Yoke

“If the devil cannot make us bad, he will make us busy.” Corrie ten Boom

Busyness does not mean you are a faithful or fruitful Christian. It only means you are busy, just like everyone else. And like everyone else, your joy, your heart, and your soul are in danger.” Kevin DeYoung

“The devil never takes a vacation. If he can make us busy, he can destroy our time and make us ineffective for the kingdom of God.”   Charles Spurgeon

DISTRACTION: a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.

“For many of us the great danger is not that we will renounce our faith, it is that we will become so distracted and rushed and preoccupied that we will settle for a mediocre version of it.”  John Ortberg

How to make the best use of our time:

1. Live with Purpose

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”  Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV

2. Embrace the Importance of Rest

“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’” Mark 6:31  NIV

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”” Luke 10:38-42 NIV

3. Seize Opportunities to Serve and Love

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”  Colossians 4:5 NIV

““Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”” Luke 10:36-37 NIV
