The One Thing God Wants Most: Love
Matthew 22:37-39 (The Great Commandment)
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.”
SOUL TATTOO: God doesn’t want your performance — He wants your presence.
Three Types of People & Their Barriers to Love
1. The Older Brother (Luke 15:25-32)
Hindrance to Loving God
- Pride in obedience
- Bitterness toward grace
- Focus on performance instead of relationship
2. The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-24)
Hindrance to Loving God
- Shame from past failures
- Fear of rejection
- Belief that they must earn their way back
3. The Samaritan Woman (John 4:4-30)
Hindrance to Loving God
- Feeling disqualified by race, gender, sin, or past
- Disconnected from “religious people”
- No idea God would want her

God isn’t asking for perfect performance—He’s asking for your heart.
