 THE BEATITUDES

The Meek…

Matthew 5:1-5 (NIV) 1Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them. He said: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Meekness” does not convey the depth and beauty it once did.

2 Corinthians 6:12 (KJV) 12Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.

2 Corinthians 6:12 (NIV) 12We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.

Meekness is power under control.

Ephesians 4:1-2 (ASV) 1I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called, 2with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Titus 3:2 (ASV) to speak evil of no man, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.

A person can be gentle but lack meekness.

A person who is meek will never lack gentleness.

Colossians 3:12 (ASV) 12Put on therefore, as God’s elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering;

Psalms 22:26 (ASV) 26The meek shall eat and be satisfied; they shall praise Jehovah that seek after him: let your heart live forever.

Psalms 25:9 (ASV) 9The meek will he guide in justice; and the meek will he teach his way.

The Latin word for “meek” is mansuetus which means “used to the hand”.

Matthew 11:28-30 (ASV) 28Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

SOUL TATTOO: “Meekness” means to walk closely with Jesus as He guides us on how to use the strengths He has given us, demonstrating humility and gentleness.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

Blessed are those who mourn,

Blessed are the meek

Only a genuine Christian can learn to be a “meek” person.

2.) Remember how much you have been forgiven.

3.) Take time before you form judgments.

4.) Make friends with meek people.

5.) Take pleasure in the successes of others.

6.) Walk daily in the presence of Jesus.
