The Blood Speaks a Better Word
1 John 1:7 (NIV) The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
SOUL TATTOO: The blood of Jesus redeems, cleanses and gives us the victory!
SOUL TATTOO: The blood of Jesus speaks life where sin brought death.
1. The blood speaks forgiveness.
- Jesus’ blood doesn’t demand justice, it delivers mercy.
Hebrews 12:24 (NIV) 24Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
Genesis 4:9-10 (ESV) 9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground.
- Abel’s blood cried out for justice and vengeance, but Jesus’ blood cries out for mercy and pardon.
- The Old Testament sacrifices reminded people of sin, but Jesus’ blood removes it.
Hebrews 10:3-4 (ESV) 3 But in these sacrifices, there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
- Jesus’ blood doesn’t just forgive some sins, it forgives all sins.
Ephesians 1:6-7 (NLT) 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
- Jesus’ blood silences guilt, shame, and condemnation.
Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 1There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
2. The blood speaks access.
Hebrews 10:19-23 (ESV) 19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
- The blood of Jesus tore the veil so we could touch the throne.
- Under the Law, only the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies, and only once a year.
Leviticus 16:1-2 (ESV) The Lord spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before the Lord and died, 2 and the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat that is on the ark, so that he may not die. For I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.
Leviticus 16:34 (NLT) 34 This is a permanent law for you, to purify the people of Israel from their sins, making them right with the Lord once each year.” Moses followed all these instructions exactly as the Lord had commanded him.
- Jesus’ blood tore the veil, granting us direct access to God.
Matthew 27:50-51 (ESV) 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. 51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.
- We are now welcomed into God’s presence with confidence and without fear.
Ephesians 2:13 (NIV) 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Hebrews 4:16 (NLT) 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
- The blood creates a pathway for relationship, not just ritual.
3. The blood speaks Eternal Life.
John 6:53-54 (NKJV) 53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
- The blood of Jesus doesn’t just save your soul, it has the ability to save you in this life and beyond.
John 6:63 (ESV) 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
- Jesus blood sealed a New Covenant that offers not just forgiveness, but transformation.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Hebrews 9:15 (NIV) 13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, h so that we may serve the living God! 15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
- Eternal life isn’t just future, it begins now, through union with Christ.
John 17:1-3 (ESV) When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
Romans 6:9-10 (NLT) 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 15:54-57 (NIV) 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Closing Thoughts:
1. The blood of Jesus speaks louder than your past.
2. The blood gives you access, not anxiety.
