PRAY FIRST
Praying from the Platform of VICTORY…
WEEK 1 SOUL TATTOO: Our lives are marked by our priorities, so what we do first communicates something to God.
WEEK 2 SOUL TATTOO: Prayer is simply talking to God and listening to God.
WEEK 3 SOUL TATTOO: If I pray according to Jesus’ plan I get Jesus’ results.
SOUL TATTOO: Because of what Jesus has done for me, in prayer I need to stand on a platform of accomplished VICTORY.
6 Mind-Blowing Quotes on Prayer
John Wesley: “God does nothing but in answer to prayer; Every new victory which a soul gains is the effect of a new prayer.”
Andrew Murray: “The man who mobilizes the Christian church to pray will make the greatest contribution to world evangelization in history.”
Leonard Ravenhill: “No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying.”
Charles Spurgeon: “I would rather teach one man to pray than ten men to preach.”
Oswald Chambers: “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”
A.W. Tozer: “The most important thing about a man is not what he does in comparison to the potential of prayer in his life.”
Romans 8:37 (ESV) 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Hebrews 11:6 (AMP) 6 But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.
“IT IS FINISHED” = “Tetelestai”
John 19:30 (ESV) 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Romans 8:31-38 (ESV) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Keys to Praying from a Platform of Victory
1.) Jesus paid the full price to reconcile us to God.
2 Corinthians 5:19-20 (NLT) 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
- The entirety of the Gospel can be summed up in this one word, reconcile.
- Through the cross we have been restored favor with God.
“The cross has restored us to favor, and we pray as sons and daughters whose Father is longing to answer our request before we ask.” (Pastor Dave Patterson, The Father’s House Church)
Matthew 6:8 (NKJV) 8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
- Reconcile also means, “to turn enemies into friends”.
We have the Father’s FULL ATTENTION when we pray.
2.) Jesus paid the full price so that we can live in complete victory.
Romans 8:35 & 37 (ESV) 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
- We do not have to live in partial victory.
- Jesus paid the price for us to live in complete victory.
- The cross guaranteed a continuous and undefeatable state of victory.
2 Questions…
1.) Am I living in a place of “it is finished”?
2.) Am I living in a place of “I am not sure if I will finish”?
3.) Jesus paid the full price so that we can have full access to the presence of God.
Matthew 27:50-52a (ESV) 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. 51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened.
- The veil was ripped from top to bottom.
- The veil being ripped gave us complete and permanent entrance into the very presence of God.
- The veil was destroyed so that the presence of God would be released into the world through HIS CHURCH!
Hebrews 4:16 (ESV) 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 10:20-22a (NLT) 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.
Romans 8:37 (ESV) 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
What would you have to rearrange to make prayer a priority?
3 Thoughts to Keep You FRESH in 2024…
STAY FRESH DO NOT FAINT!
Galatians 6:9 (TPT) And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!
Galatians 6:9 (MSG) So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.
- Read your Bible and pray.
- Worship your heart out.
- Spend time with other Christians.
SOUL TATTOO: Because of what Jesus has done for me, in prayer I need to stand on a platform of accomplished VICTORY.
