Where Do I Go From Here?

My Commission…

I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. Philippians 3:10 (NLT)

Because everyone counts, Destination Church relentlessly loves and serves like Jesus.
Where do I go from here?
Maybe I would say…

  • It’s time to get closer to God. Let us help you get to Know God.
  • It’s time for me to build community. Let us help you Build Community, by getting in a Small Group.
  • It’s time to discover my real purpose in life. Let us help you Discover Your Purpose by starting Growth Track this coming week.
  • It’s time to do something that is greater than myself. Let us help you Make A Difference, by getting on the DC Dream Team.

Week 1 Soul Tattoo  Connection and conviction are next steps to longevity with Jesus Christ.

Week 2 Soul Tattoo   Commitment is an action not just a word.

The Commission:

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 (ESV)

Soul Tattoo  Obedience to the commission is how I “Make a Difference”.

“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.”  Hudson Taylor

Making a difference:

This has been our prayer for you.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people. Ephesians 1:16-18 (NIV)

We don’t want this to happen to any of us.

Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:2 (MSG)

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Questions about the Great Commission:

1.) The who of the Great Commission.

Jesus:

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Matthew 28:18 (ESV)

Us:

12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” John 14:12 (NLT)

2.) The what and the why of the Great Commission.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all tht I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)

“The greatest form of praise is the sound of consecrated feet seeking out the lost and helpless.” Billy Graham

3.) The when and the where of the Great Commission.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8 (ESV)

4.) The how of the Great Commission.

“To be a soul winner is the happiest thing in this world.” Charles Spurgeon

47 For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ Acts 13:47 (NLT)

My purpose = Making a Difference:

  • Let the One who designed me define me.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)

  • See God the right way.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! Psalm 139:17 (NLT)

  • Allow God to heal my heart.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me… Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)

  • Invite God into my right now.

Lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:24 (NLT)
