LIFE

Life of Purpose

PURPOSE: The reason for which something is done, created, or why it exists.

  • Love God, Love People.

Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV) 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ i 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

  • Be Transformed.

Romans 12:2 (NIV) 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  • Go and Make Disciples.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

GIFT: enablement or capacities that are divinely bestowed upon individuals. These are freely given by God, these cannot be earned or merited.

CALLING: invitation to use your unique giftings for kingdom advancement

Purpose, gifting, or calling does not have to = occupation

Romans 8:28 (ESV) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

2 Timothy 1:9 (NIV) He has called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace.

Ephesians 1:5 (ESV) He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.

Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) You can make many plans, but God’s purpose prevails.

SOUL TATTOO: It’s not MY purpose but HIS and my calling is revealed at the speed of my daily obedience to His word.

Romans 3:23 (ESV) All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 2:1-4 (NKJV) And I, brethren when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit of power.

Ezekiel 37:1-4 (NIV) The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!

Colossians 1:16 (NIV) For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

Psalm 115:3 (NIV) Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.

1 Corinthians 12:12-17 (NLT) The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So, it is with the body of Christ. 13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. 14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. 15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?

1 Corinthians 12: 26-27 (NLT) 26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

Psalm 16:11 (ESV) You have made known to me the path of life.

SOUL TATTOO: It’s not MY purpose but HIS and my calling is revealed at the speed of my daily obedience to His word.
