OUR COMING SAVIOR

Herod…

Herod who was “called” king of the Jews.

The Magi (Wise Men)

Matthew 2:2-3 (NIV) 2Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” 3When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.

Matthew 2:16-18 (NIV) 16When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: 18″A voice is heard in Ramah , weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted…

Luke 2:9-14 (NIV) 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14″Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.

Luke 2:13-14 (NIV) 13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14″Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.

There is no peace to a world who rejects the very Prince of Peace.

John 14:27 (NIV) 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Objective Peace which means a transactional peace.

Experiential Peace or a peace that we feel emotionally.

John 14:27 (NIV) 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Rom 5:1 (NIV) 1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NIV) 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.

GREAT COMMISION: “Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all that I commanded you and (remember this) I am with you till the end of earth.

Experiential Peace  (potential peace)

Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV) 4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matt 11:27-30 (NIV) 27″All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28″Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

SOUL TATTOO: Experienced peace is only realized as a genuine believer faithfully follows Jesus to the best of his/her ability.
