The Innkeeper

Luke 2:7 (ESV) Because there was no place for them in the inn.

Soul Tattoo: Is there room in your inn?

Luke 2:1-7 (ESV) In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

3 Lessons from the innkeeper:

It’s EASY to miss Jesus.

It’s TEMPTING to dismiss Jesus.

It’s COMMON to be too preoccupied for Jesus.

The problem, however, isn’t that you and I don’t have room for Jesus. It’s that we haven’t made room for Jesus.

The Innkeeper is no stranger to me. And my feeling is that he is no stranger to you.

4 Thoughts on Jesus coming into your inn today:

John 14:6 (NIV) 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

1.) All of us have sinned.

Romans 3:23 (ESV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Sin will take you farther than you want to go. Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay. Sin will cost you more than you want to pay!

2.) All of us are loved.

Romans 5:8 (ESV) 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

3.) All of us can have life.

Romans 6:23 (ESV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 10:10 (ESV) 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

4.) All of us can believe and receive.

Romans 10:9-10 (ESV) 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Ephesians 1:19-20 (NLT) 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

5.) All of us can be saved.

Romans 10:13 (ESV) 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Is this going to work?
